January 2010 Newsletter

Happy New Year to you all!

Hope you got some lovely presents for Christmas. Did you get any new socks? Now's the time to give the old ones a good wash and transform them into Sock Monsters, Sock Monkeys or even Sock Bunnies.
Any washing disasters with jumpers recently? Over-washed, slightly felted jumpers are the perfect material for jumper monkeys!

Enjoyed your Christmas cards?
Instead of sending all your cards for recycling, here’s a few ideas:

  • Save them to cut into Christmas tags for next year’s presents

  • Join us for some Post-Christmas Revamping on 21 January to turn your cards into (1) a beautiful multi-layered flower hanging that you can keep up all year long and (2) a handy little box to store all those little fiddly things that get lost.

  • Tear them in half and use blank sides as shopping or ‘to do’ lists

  • If you do need to recycle them, there are special bins at WH Smith, Tesco and M&S
  • What other revamping have we got in store for you?
The full programme for January to April is on the website in sock-shaped, button-jangling, junkmail-rolling, multi-coloured glory so do hop over and take a look.

People have been especially taken with the cute new addition to the programme, Sock Bunnies. Couldn't resist scheduling this for Easter...
    various buttons
And the buttons! Button obsession continues unabated. February’s Blissed out with Buttons is now full. As an offering to the many of you fixated (sorry!) with buttons, a completely new workshop will be on offer in May making more jewellery: multi-layered brooches, rings and earrings as well as the intricate starburst brooch, pictured above. If you want to make jewellery before that, there are still places on Junkmail Jewellery on 15 April.

Don't miss out on the new discussion forum & competition
We've set up a chat space for eco-crafting cyberbabes (& boys) to give and receive inspiration. Don't miss out on the opportunity to win Maximilian the Sock Monkey in the launch competition - open to 15 January 2010.

    Best wishes

    Recycle your Christmas Tree

There are drop-off points in many Manchester parks. People with green kerbit bins can leave the tree next to (not in) the green bin on the collection dates from 4-15 January. How easy is that?!

Or on the other hand you might prefer to...
